Midwest Hormone Centers specialize in Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (BHRT) for both men and women. The bioidentical approach utilizes male and female hormones (testosterone, estrogen, progesterone) that are structurally and functionally identical to those that our bodies produce. We also use a symptom based strategy when assessing and treating hormonal deficiencies or imbalances. This is the best approach to allow our doctors and nurse specialists to identify and treat on a highly individualized basis, using the lowest dose possible to achieve symptom resolution.

The normal aging process includes declining production of both male and female hormones. For some, this natural decline is subtle, and does not result in significant symptoms. For others, the symptoms of hormonal deficiency/imbalance can be severe and adversely affect the quality of life. Common hormonally related symptoms in men and women include:

  • Fatigue
  • Weight gain
  • Poor sleep
  • Lack of focus or dyscognition (“brain fog”)
  • Lack of motivation
  • Irritability, mood swings
  • Depression and anxiety
  • Poor response to diet or exercise
  • Body aches, muscle and joint pain
  • Poor libido

In addition, women may suffer with hot flashes, night sweats, and dryness (skin, eyes, vaginal) while men may note problems with erectile function.

After a careful assessment of medical history, symptoms, physical findings, lab values, and treatment goals, our providers are able to prescribe a customized care plan. We will continue to adjust treatment until restoration of proper hormone function and balance is achieved with minimal to no side effects. BHRT is typically delivered by weekly or every other week injections administered in the clinic, sometimes along with oral medication. Additional treatment options include pellet insertions done every 3 months and self-administered, take home therapy.

To discover if BHRT may be right for you, please complete and submit the New Patient Hormone Assessment form. We will respond quickly to discuss the next steps.
